Since June 1, the FALCONESS project, funded by the German BMBF within the framework of PAWS (Programme Advocating Women Scientists in STEM) has started. The entire group involved is very excited and motivated to create something great, despite the still challenging pandemic situation we’re in. A FALCONESS kick-off workshop happened between 20-24 September 2021 in Aburi, Ghana. Besides the working meetings, the workshop included a seminar entitled ‘Aspects of Materials, Architecture, Structures and Gender Equity in Sustainable Urban Development in Africa’ hosted by the University of Ghana and a city tour of Accra.

A second meeting is was held in Berlin Germany, November 2021. The workshops in Berlin included discussions about sustainable urbanisation and female empowerment.
